Camerata Musica: Arcadi Volodos

Wednesday 6th May

7:30 pm

Born in St Petersburg in 1972, Arcadi Volodos is widely regarded as one of the few absolute superstars of the piano – a virtuoso in the tradition of Horowitz and Rubinstein, combining astonishing technical perfection with musical intelligence of the highest order. He is amongst the most sought-after pianists of our day. ‘You can keep your Lang Langs, your Yuja Wangs’, commented the Gramophone, ‘I’d swap their collective virtuosity for one evening of Arcadi Volodos’s consummate pianism.’

Since making his New York debut in 1996, Volodos has performed throughout the world in recital and with the most eminent orchestras and conductors. Piano recitals have played a central role in Volodos’s artistic life since he began his career. For this concert, he pairs four of Liszt’s most profound works with the series of pieces Schumann considered his favourite composition for piano, Kreisleriana, written when the composer was 28.
