CMF on film: Dunedin Consort plays Bach

Cambridge Music Festival

Wednesday 14th April

6:00 pm

The renowned Edinburgh-based period ensemble Dunedin Consort visited Cambridge last month to film two performances at West Road Concert Hall of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos 5 &6. No more than 30 minutes long, each film includes an insightful introduction to the music.

The ensemble's Music Director John Butt (a former organ scholar at King's College Cambridge) directs from the harpsichord with an infectious joy that is clearly shared by the other musicians.

Although we were not able to bring you into the hall to watch live - a fact which we have had to reluctantly accept - the finished films do give the advantage of being able to see the instruments and their players close-up. Of course you can also watch in your own armchair, with whatever helps immerse you in the music: headphones, slippers, a glass of wine...

The second film, Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 will premiere on YouTube at 6pm on 14 April - and will be available to watch for 2 weeks after that.
