The concert will recount the story of Lucy Cavendish College from its founding to the present day, capturing the milestones and turning points. The programme will be interspersed with Indian classical musical pieces that are thematically appropriate to the story being told. The evening will feature diverse musical traditions of India, different musical instruments, languages and melodies.
Arpan in Sanskrit means ‘to dedicate’. We dedicate this concert to the College’s mission, just as the College dedicates all its efforts towards improving access to education. ‘Arpan’ will be a musical celebration of the dynamism, diversity, and inclusiveness that are at the core of the College’s values.
The performers will be drawn from the diverse membership of Cambridge University Indian Classical Music Society.
