The intercollegiate Instrumental Awards for Chamber Music Scheme exists to promote chamber music amongst students of the University – and the showcase concerts feature the crème de la crème of the university’s instrumental talent, including musicians who will follow in the footsteps of their predecessors to pursue professional careers as performers.

From piano duos to string quartets and brass dectets, Award holders work together over the course of a year (and often for the whole of their time at Cambridge), developing long-term performing relationships and learning how to approach a wide range of repertoire with skill, precision and musicality. They are coached by some of the UK’s finest professional musicians, and this year groups have benefitted from special masterclasses with the likes of the Emerson String Quartet. Ensembles give regular recitals throughout the year, and the very best are chosen to perform in these showcase concerts.

Repertoire and performers will be announced after the showcase auditions at the end of January, which are open to all the existing Award holders.
