The Final TyrannoConcert!
bigMouth, TongueTwisters, VoxPop, Saffron Building Society Community Choir and Harston's Humming and Notes ALL combine for one final time as the mighty TyrannoChorus. Bringing together a 'greatest hits' programme with new arrangements for the final time, it promises to be an amazing wall of super, stirring sounds to say goodbye to these lovely, local legends.
Big Mouth sing choral classics, rock songs, folk songs and new music. They are veterans of the Albert Hall, having recorded sessions at Abbey Road, and have even had world premiere CDs with Sir Karl Jenkins.
Saffron Building Society Community Choir, a former staff choir now community supergroup! They have sung at Saffron Hall, for the Lord Mayor’s ‘Churching of the Mayor’, the Fete de la Musique and beyond.
TongueTwisters (4 to 11 year olds) sing a mix of songs for fun and to a high standard. They have reached the finals of Music for Youth three times. As well as concerts in West Road and beyond, they have twice been the children’s choir in a staging of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana at the iconic Royal Albert Hall.
VoxPop (under 18s) sing a huge range of music and have been lucky enough to sing all over across the years, from the Family Festival, London's Southbank Voicelab, Great St Mary’s in Cambridge and even a couple of outings to the Royal Albert Hall.
Humming and Notes is the school choir at Harston and Newton Primary School. They frequently team up with TongueTwisters and are veterans of the Music for Youth Finals, the Albert Hall (Carmina Burana) and even took part in the Benjamin Britten celebrations centred around the Friday Afternoons musical project, staged in the Cambridge Corn Exchange. They have sung Beowulf narrated by Harry Potter’s Oliver Phelps and had a cantata composed for and with them called 'Walrus' by composer Alex Paxton.
TyrannoChorus appearances include many at the prestigious Saffron Hall. They have also, on a number of occasions, joined forces with the London Community Gospel Choir.
Cor 8 is an all-female horn ensemble, founded in 2018, comprising performers from each of London’s music conservatoires, and we are delighted that some of them are joining us for this concert.
